It’s still a while away, but the first rumors have already appeared on the net and tell us about what will be its features. Probably the Mi 12 series will also consist of multiple models, although in this article we will focus on those for the premium range. Let’s see, then, what we know about its specifications and details on price and release date.

Update 27/07:rumors continue about the Xiaomi Mi 12, this time with an alleged live image that shows us the possible camera layout. Find all the details inside the article, within the “Design and Display” section.

still way too early to know what the Xiaomi Mi 12 will look like, especially in terms of looks, design and colorations. Also because there will almost certainly be multiple models and each of them could vary in terms of aesthetics. Nevertheless, Chinese media have published an alleged render image, the result of a leak on Weibo. Obviously we do not know if this will really be the final look and it is likely that it is a fake (or rather, a concept). However, such a solution cannot be ruled out, a sort of hybrid close to both the current Mi 11 range and the Mi 11 Ultra

super flagship. Incidentally, the selfie camera is missing (presumably because it is imagined under the display).xiaomi mi 12xiaomi mi 12

The new live image spotted on Weibo changes things up instead, with a very different camera layout that partly recalls the Mi 11’s style but only for the module’s squared-off shape. Inside we find a main sensor accompanied by the longed-for telephoto lens with periscope system (and 5X zoom). However, the spicy detail lies in the main module, which should be 192 MP according to the leaker. Obviously both the image and the various details should be taken with due caution: it is very likely that this is a fake but not necessarily that the information is fallacious. We’ll see!

Instead we can get a clearer idea on the type of screen, because the rumor anticipates that should be used an OLED panel LPTO, perhaps provided by Samsung. OPPO and OnePlus have already embraced it on the top of the range 2021, a technology that benefits the refresh rate by being able to have a finer automatic adjustment

. Xiaomi’s current flagships have Adaptive Sync screens, but they can only vary between 30, 60, 90 and 120 Hz. The Xiaomi Mi 12’s LTPO screen should be able to go down to 1 Hz, thus being able to impact battery life as little as possible. display ltpo <img width=”1200″ height=”688″ src=”https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-1200×688.jpg 1200w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-300×172.jpg 300w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-768×440.jpg 768w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-696×399.jpg 696w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-1068×612.jpg 1068w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-732×420.jpg 732w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0-150×86.jpg 150w, https://gizchina.it/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Display-ltpo-0.jpg 1280w” alt=”display ltpo”

/>Based on what we’ve seen on the Mi 11 series, we can expect a screen around 6.8″ Quad HD+, with 10-bit HDR10+ support and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Surely the fingerprint sensor will be implemented in the display, while it is less certain the presence of a camera under the screen. This type of sensor doesn’t seem ready for large-scale commercialization yet, even considering that usually the Mi flagship series isn’t used for such disruptions. More likely, instead, we’ll see them on the upcoming foldables and Mi MIX 4

. We expect, instead, IP68 certification against liquids and dust.

Hardware and softwareWhat

pretty much certain instead is that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will be one of the first, if not the first ever, with the Snapdragon 895 SM8450. Based on rumors so far

, the chipset should enjoy a 4nm manufacturing process, benefiting battery life. The contained CPU should allow for a decent generational leap, thanks to the new Kryo 780 CPU based on the ARM Cortex v9 architecture. In addition, the new Adreno 730 GPU should provide a strong boost in terms of graphics processing. On the memory side, we expect 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256/512 GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 storage and there will definitely be no shortage of a 5G modem.qualcomm snapdragon 895qualcomm snapdragon 895

We don’t have any information about the battery yet, although the amperage should be around 4,500/5,000 mAh, depending on the model of the Mi 11 series. It will be interesting what kind of fast charging the flagship will have, given also the <a href=”https://gizchina.it/2021/05/xiaomi-hyper-charge-ricarica-cablata-wireless-rapida-record/”

However, a report from China reveals some details about the Hyper Charge technology: according to the same Asian media, Xiaomi Mi 12 should not be the first one with 200W charging. The powerful novelty should enter the mass production phase from June 2022. Verisimilarly – but lacking a confirmation – the super charging will debut aboard Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra, flagship not yet announced but already protagonist of the first fantasies. Returning to our Mi 12, at this point it is safe to assume that it will have a top charging but still “already seen”, perhaps from 120W (like Mi 10 Ultra and, it is rumored, Mi MIX 4)

As for software, the Mi 12 should be one of the first based on Android 12 by default, perhaps with the upcoming MIUI 13.

The most “amazing” feature of the Xiaomi Mi 12 series will almost certainly be the camera one., as it may feature more new features. As of now, we don’t have any rumors to help us draft what specs to expect. Also because there will be at least 1/2 “Pro” models that will boast more advanced photographic features than the base model. There will definitely be a wide-angle and a telephoto lens at stake, perhaps periscopial, perhaps in pairs to handle a longer focal length.

However, there’s a rumor that’s becoming more and more persistent, so it’s worth reporting at this point. Some Chinese leakers are claiming that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will be the brand’s first top-of-the-line camera to have a 200 MP main sensor on board, a solution already featured in previous rumors. This should be presented by Samsung, but for now all is silent. Meanwhile, the same leaker anticipates some specifications of Mi CC11 and Mi CC11 Pro while claiming that the next Mi MIX 4 will have a classic 50 MP ISOCELL GN1 sensor. Meanwhile, we remember that leaks also talk about a 200 MP Xiaomi smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 888+ but at the moment the identity of this device remains unknown.

Xiaomi K8/Odin: is there a connection with the Mi 12 series?

In the section on the design and display of the device, we mentioned that this one might not adopt an under-screen selfie camera. The reason for this is that experimental features are usually launched on MIX series models, the one that is more accustomed to such novelties. However, a post by Digital Chat Station – a well-known Chinese leaker – turns things upside down and opens up new possibilities.

xiaomi mi 12xiaomi mi 12

According to the insider, the Xiaomi model marked K8 and also known as Odin, would be part of the Mi 12 series: the smartphone in question has been associated for months with Mi MIX 4, what should be the first smartphone with an under-display camera. As proof, the leaker recalls that the mysterious K8 is expected by the end of the year; the Mi 11 series was unveiled in December 2020 in China.

In short, it looks like what we know as the rumored Mi MIX 4 is part of the

a Mi 12 range and will arrive with it by the end of the year. At the moment there are neither other confirmations nor denials: consequently, at least for now, we’ll continue to address them as two separate smartphones, part of two distinct series. As soon as more tangible news arrives – if there will be any – we’ll update everything and edit the articles in question.

Xiaomi Mi 12 – Price and DateAs

per “tradition”, the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 12 should take place during Q1 2022, although for the presentation there is already talk of December 2021. Presentation that could take place on the occasion or at least in conjunction with that Qualcomm just for the Snapdragon 895.

Speaking of prices, it’s still early to draw some expected and unofficial costs, but we can base on those of the current generation also because they are unlikely to drop. Based on this, the Xiaomi Mi 12 could start from a minimum of 3,999 yuan in list price, which is about €513, but in Europe the price should be no less than €799.90.
