Sony has introduced the first vlog camera with interchangeable lens of the Alpha series: it’s called Sony ZV-E10 and is designed specifically for the needs of vloggers, who will find in this camera not only the image quality that distinguishes the company but also features that make it simple and versatile when you use it to tell stories on video.
At the heart of this model is the 24.2 megapixel Exmor APS-C CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X image processor, which together offer high sensitivity, textures with detailed rendering and soft and natural bokeh effects. One of the most interesting features is what the company calls “Background Blur,” which allows smooth transitions between bokeh effects and sharp backgrounds, or the “Product Showcase Setting” mode, which allows you to automatically shift focus from the subject’s face to an object you want to highlight.
Designed primarily for video, the new Sony ZV-E10 is fairly lightweight (weighing in at around 340 grams), has a side-opening LCD screen that swivels in multiple directions, and allows for external microphones to be connected above the main body so you don’t have to give up viewing the screen in selfie mode and from high or low angles. Other useful features in this context include the presence of a shooting mode selection button on the top of the device, which allows you to switch between “Photo”, “Video” and “Slow & Quick Motion” with a single tap.
The new camera is also equipped with advanced video features, such as shooting movies in 4K (at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and Slow motion in Full HD at 120p, while the electronic image stabilizer with Active Mode promises high stability even when shooting manually while walking. The autofocus technology is also very good, combining Fast Hybrid AF and Real-time Eye AF with real-time tracking to follow the subject’s eyes and face with fast and accurate autofocus.
It has a “Touch Focus” function that allows you to set the focus position in the scene with a simple touch on the screen, thus instantly moving the focus area from one subject to another, almost anywhere in the frame. It also uses a 3-capsule directional microphone accompanied by removable wind cover to greatly reduce airborne noise. There is also a headphone jack, which can be used to monitor the audio recording in real time.
The Sony ZV-E10 will be available from the end of August 2021 as a body-only camera or as a kit with the E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5 power zoom lens..6 OSS. The price has not been announced yet.
