Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Plus and S8 Ultra: what do we know about the new series of top-of-the-line tablets?

Design and display

The rear design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series looks more or less similar among the three models and does not differ much from the previous Tab S7. Different is the coloration situation: S8 and S8+ will be available in Black, Silver Pink hues. For S8 Ultra, however, there will be only one Black coloration.

And for the display? If we start from the base model, we find a 11″ WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels)TFT LTPS LCD panel with 120 Hz refresh rate. This in dimensions of 253.8 x 165.3 x 6.33 mm and a weight of 507 g.

Moving on to S8+, the panel is Super AMOLED type and the diagonal goes up to 12.4″ WQXGA+ (2800 x 1772 pixels) always at 120 Hz, in dimensions of 258 x 185 x 5.7 mm and 572 g.

We finally arrive at the model l’Ultra and its 14.6″ WQXGA+ (2960 x 1848 pixels) panel at 120 Hz, in dimensions of 326.4 x 208.6 x 5.5 mm and 728 g. But its peculiarity is to be equipped with a notch to hold a dual camera.

Hardware and software

Another department where we find points in common between the three is definitely the hardware. The SoC used for the three Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, thus proving to be the most powerful Android tablets on the market. This is matched by the Adreno 730 GPU, 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage space. For the battery, the standard version will have an 8,000 mAh module, the Plus one goes up to 10,090 mAh and the Ultra model goes up to 11,120 mAh. For all there is support for S-Pen, with magnetic attachment on the rear section.

The connectivity department includes on all models USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 6 Dual Band, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS and optional 5G. There is also no shortage of four stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. On the software side, all come with Android 12 with One UI 4.1 interface.

The camera department of the Galaxy Tab S8 series is interesting. Not so much for the rear with S8, S8 Plus and S8 Ultra having a dual 13+6 MP sensor with wide-angle lens, but for the selfie camera on the Ultra model. In fact, there is a dual 12+12 MP sensor surrounded by drop notch. For the other two, there is a single 12 MP sensor.
