The rumor has been swirling for a few months, it’s now official, there will be no new Samsung Galaxy Note this year. Recently confirmed by the Korean firm, the annual Unpacked event will take place on August 11. However, we won’t have to count on the appearance of a last-generation Galaxy Note for this year.

Dr TM Roh, the president and head of the mobile communications division at Samsung said, “We are determined to reach new heights and open up a whole new world of exciting experiences for even more people. I hope you’ll join us in launching our next Galaxy Z family and sharing some foldable surprises, including the first-ever S Pen designed specifically for foldable phones. Instead of unveiling a new Galaxy Note this time around, we’ll be further expanding the beloved Note features to more Samsung Galaxy devices.”

A Galaxy Note for 2022?

As we explained before, several rumors were already calling for a Galaxy Note for 2021. Samsung had already explained that the shortage of semiconductors could disrupt its plans for the Galaxy Note. However, above all else, it would seem that Samsung is looking to avoid self-competition. Indeed, the Galaxy S range is now so good that it has nothing to envy to the Notes.

However, it is important to note that this information is only valid for the year 2021. As early as 2022, Samsung could likely return with a next-generation Galaxy Note. Max Weinbach, a journalist at Android Police had already made this announcement on November 15, 2020.

As for Unpacked, Samsung is expected to use the event to showcase two new foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. More announcements are expected to take place during the event, which we’ll be following together on Press-Kitron. It’s also likely that some information will be revealed before August 11.
