That there’s been a huge explosion in home fitness over the past couple of years is a given. And that companies like Xiaomi, backed by all its satellite brands, have practically flooded the market with smart treadmills is another fact more than certain.

In reality, however, the vast majority of these treadmills suffer from some functional limitations, mainly due to a great need: to minimize the footprint, precisely because they are products designed for the home.

But over time, some companies have made great strides, presenting products with fewer compromises and definitely smarter: this is the case of the OVICX Q2S, a treadmill born under the protective wing of Xiaomi that, although compact in size, is able to compete with larger models, thanks to a number of very interesting smart features.

Review XQIAO OVICX Q2S: Xiaomi’s smart treadmill that gets you around the block.

Design and materialsWith

weight of just over 40 kg and a platform of 43 x 110 cm, the OVICX Q2S is a folding treadmill also equipped with a vertical structure in which armrests have been inserted which, among other things, are themselves foldable

And it is precisely thanks to the possibility of “hiding” the armrests in the plank and requesting the same towards the platform, the space occupied by the OVICX Q2S is really reduced to a minimum: it can be stored both horizontally and vertically, thanks to two spring-loaded feet, so as to optimize the footprint and occupy less than 0.5 square meters. And this, let’s admit it, is a great convenience especially for those who do not have much space in the house.

At the base of the treadmill was inserted a button on and off and was also integrated a security system with which the whole treadmill will not work if it is not properly positioned the typical magnet that, at least in theory, you have to fix on with a clip: in this way, in case of a fall, the magnet will be automatically disconnected and the system will be blocked

And, believe me, having a mobile device available while using the OVICX Q2S goes far beyond being able to watch a TV series.

Operation and SpecificationsThe

vast majority of home or desk treadmills are limited to a maximum speed of 6mph. The OVICX Q2S instead, has a variable speed that can be set from 1 to 10 Km/h. In short, if the other models are mostly designed for walking on the spot, the XQIAO treadmill on the other hand is also made for running. Not for nothing is it able to support a maximum weight of 100 kg, and to do so in a rather quiet way, thanks to four semi-rigid rubber supports that dampen the vibrations with the floor.

<img width=”1200″ height=”800″ src=” 1200w,×200.jpg 300w,×512.jpg 768w,×464.jpg 696w,×420.jpg 630w,×100.jpg 150w” alt=” />There is

also a small display on the dashboard, with which you can keep track of your physical activity, manage all the parameters related to the progress of the race except the inclination of the platform: the OVICX Q2S, unfortunately, is not variable inclination, but all in all it is a more than acceptable compromise considering the maximum speed above average and, above all, the very small size of the product

Integra, however, has heart rate sensors: they are standard, placed on the dashboard and require both hands to be placed on

They work pretty well, although I think that this is a rather superfluous feature, given the spread of fitbands.

Apps and smart featuresThere

also the smart part, which is the most fun part of the OVICX Q2S. As soon as you turn it on, the treadmill will activate the built-in Bluetooth, with which you can connect the FitShow app available for both iOS and Android. And although it is an app that can be improved in some respects, we must admit that it is this application to give an extra gear to the whole product, and make it really smart.

Through FitShow in fact, not only can you manage your physical activity and adjust all the parameters available on the dashboard, but will also allow the management of more complex runs, the setting of particular goals

and the creation of a series of personalized training plans: in this section, by entering your personal data (age, gender, weight, etc.) the system will generate a real calendar of workouts based on the goal you want to achieve in which, among other things, will be included different workouts based on the day of the week and days of rest.

Through a function that uses Google Maps, then, you can simulate a run outside: if you usually run a certain route around your home, in your favorite park or anywhere on the planet, through this function you can set the starting point and the point of arrival, so as to run, at home, progressing in your usual path. And that’s not all: you’ll be able to see your progress on the map, so you can see where you would have been if you had run outside.

Then there’s another feature that I really liked, the one that takes you around the world. How? With the same concept used in the mode with Google Maps, through the FitShow app you can choose from dozens of routes around the world including parks, big cities, canyons, mountain trails and so on, to cover them (albeit virtually) with the treadmill: and the funniest thing is that, while you go, on the screen of your smartphone or tablet will display a video with which you can “immerse” in the chosen landscape. Everything is always reproduced according to your gait.

In short, the OVICX Q2S integrates practically all the smart functions you could ask of a home treadmill and it does so in a rather stable manner, with practically zero disconnections from the smartp

hone or tablet.

What it lacks, from this point of view, is compatibility with Apple Health or Google Fit: it would have been interesting to be able to synchronize data with the two services, so as to have a more complete picture of your activity. In terms of detection, naked and raw, calories burned and miles traveled I would say that we are: the discrepancy with what is detected by an Apple Watch is there, but it is very minimal.

Price and conclusionsThe

price of the OVICX Q2S is $699.99, but through our coupon you could buy it at a discount to 340.90 euros. And let’s be clear: it’s a treadmill that has convinced me a lot, not only for the convenience of use and the very small footprint, but also for the smart features.

<img width=”1200″ height=”800″ src=” 1200w,×200.jpg 300w,×512.jpg 768w,×712.jpg 1068w,×420.jpg 630w,×100.jpg 150w” alt=” />It can

be closed, raised vertically, has a great support for smartphones and tablets and can reach 10 Km/h. It’s a shame about the lack of variable tilt and about the app that could be improved in several details, but the platform is definitely wide for a product of this category, and some smart features integrated in the app really give it an edge.
