set the question in an explicit and open way, speaking precisely about the functions dedicated to Redmi K50, was the CEO of the Chinese house, Lu Weibing

. The executive asked users what kind of features, configuration and experience they hope to find in the upcoming flagship that he has already referred to as K50. The most frequent answer, without a doubt, is the maintenance of fast charging at least at 67W, but they hope it can remain wired, as confidence in wireless charging is still low.

For the configuration, many have asked for 512 GB of storage, to date totally unheard of in a Redmi, so they ask for more freedom to use the space of the smartphone. As for the other specifications, the request for a 5,000 mAh battery has emerged several times. Then there’s someone who asked for a curved display, another unheard of feature for a Redmi, but the brand seems to want to go along with it.

After fueling the discussion regarding the next Redmi flagships, Lu Weibing takes everyone on the back foot and asks users what there should be or what they expect for the K40 Game

‘s successor, hinting that the Xiaomi rib is already thinking about a possible gaming K50. The question, according to the comments, mainly revolves around the chipset issue, as users are clamoring for a Snapdragon CPU instead of the MediaTek one chosen for this year’s model.

Design and display

After seeing the expectations of enthusiasts, it’s time to take stock and instead collect the various leaks regarding the Redmi K50 series. The render you see above is blatantly fake, but it’s still a first attempt at tracing the design of the range.

or the well-known leaker DigitalChatStation Xiaomi would be working on new materials for the back cover of their devices (including Redmi) and should present a solution similar to glass but unpublished, a kind of Glasstic, probably to facilitate wireless charging. This is just an indiscretion, but it seems that we could find this novelty on the K50 family.

Similar to the previous generation, this time we should have AMOLED display even if this round we would have a fingerprint reader integrated under the panel. We don’t know the screen size, but the central punch hole should also return, presumably the same 2.8mm mini solution. We don’t rule out the return of a 120 Hz refresh rate, with 360 Hz touch sampling. For now, we’re assuming that all panels will be flat (though various Mi fans are clamoring for a curved-edge version).

Obviously, we’re expecting a mid-to-high-end base model for the K50 range, but also one or more top-end versions. As a result, it is clear that we will find on board the upcoming Snapdragon 895, Qualcomm’s future high-end solution. We still don’t know the battery capacity (still 4,520 mAh?) but according to a Chinese leaker we should find support for 67W fast charging. With Redmi K50 Pro, however, it would go up even to 120W, the same power as Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra.

For the rest of the specifications we still do not have details and the same goes for the photographic compartment, although we expect improvements from the point of view of shots. Recall that the current triptych mounts 48/64/108 MP solutions with wide-angle and macro (respectively K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro+).

As for the new range, Redmi K50 should focus on a 48 MP main sensor while in the case of the older brother Pro we would have a 108 MP sensor.

We talk about it skeptically and still wait for official details, but in recent weeks there have been rumors about a possible Redmi with 192 MP camera: could it be the future K50 Pro+? After all, it’s the only model not yet mentioned in leaks and it certainly doesn’t hurt to fantasize!

Redmi K50 – price and release rumors

It will still be a long time before we start talking more concretely about the Redmi K50 series, also because in the meantime we should see the launch of Redmi K40 Ultra, the alleged rival to OnePlus Nord 2. Leaker DigitalChatStation tells us about when the K50 should be debuted and according to the insider the launch could happen before the upcoming Chinese New Year. This means that the event would be set d
