A few months ago we reviewed the PaMu Quiet, a Bluetooth headset with one of the most original cases on the audio scene. However, this had the disadvantage of being a bit too bulky and a cost that exceeded 80 euros. That’s why the company has decided to launch a product that is smaller in both size and price, we’re talking about the PaMu Quiet Mini.

How did they perform in our tests? Have they been able to improve the criticalities of the older brother? Let’s find out in our full review.

PaMu Quiet Mini Review

Unboxing – PaMu Quiet MiniThe

packaging is made of white cardboard and presents some photos of the product, as well as the main technical specifications. Inside we find the following equipment:

  • PaMu Quiet Mini;
  • USB to USB Type-C cable;
  • soft faux leather case;
  • different sized earplugs (S, L);
  • manuals.

Design and constructionProbably

you remember our review

on the PaMu Quiet, which are characterized by a very special charging case thanks to its shape inspired by old pocket watches. The materials are good too, but the big downside is that this affects the size and portability quite a bit. the PaMu Quiet Mini the company has preserved the shape of the earphones, but has totally changed the case which this time is definitely more compact and lightweight, although the materials are less premium

In fact the case is made entirely of plastic, which is also available in several very nice colors. Also on board we find support for wireless charging and a status LED, details that are definitely worth mentioning.

That said the flap is very fine, it has a magnetic closure but you’ll have to accompany it in both opening and closing. When you open it the earphones will not automatically connect to the smartphone, but you will need to extract them to start the pairing.

Coming then to the headphones, these are identical to those of his older brother. We have a plastic construction of excellent workmanship, remain firmly in the ear and have a compact size. The grommets fit perfectly and I didn’t experience any problems or discomfort even after several hours of use.

Even during sports sessions they showed no problems, on the contrary, thanks to the IPX4 certification they will be resistant to water (sweat and rain) and dust.

Analyzing them in more detail we find 3 microphones, a status LED that indicates the connection and a touch-sensitive surface, through which we can perform the following operations:

  • Play/pause: one tap on the left or right earpiece;
  • Answer calls: one tap on the right or left earpiece;
  • Reject a call: double tap on the right or left earpiece;
  • Previous track: double tap on the left earpiece;
  • Next track: double tap on the right earpiece;
  • Voice assistant: tap and hold on the left earpiece;
  • Activate/deactivate ANC: press and hold on the right earpiece.

Through the proprietary application “PaMu Quiet” it will be possible to change the gestures to our liking and among them there are also options to raise or lower the volume. The reception of touches is sometimes a bit slow, as it takes 1/2 seconds to perform the operation.

Unfortunately, the proximity sensor is still absent, so when we remove one of the two headphones the playback m

usical will not stop automatically. One of the good things, though, is that we can use both headphones individually, and even pair the right and left headphones to different smartphones at the same time.

Connectivity and callsThe

PaMu Quiet Mini has Bluetooth 5.2 with support for AAC and SBC codecs, unlike the PaMu Quiet which has Bluetooth 5.0, but thanks to the dual Qualcomm QCC5124 and AMS3460 chips also have support for aptX

In all, I didn’t experience any connection problems, something that had happened to me more than once with the big brother. In fact, from the first pairing onwards everything went smoothly and every time you take the headset out of the case, it will quickly connect to the smartphone.

PaMu Quiet MiniPaMu Quiet Mini As for

latency, there are no delays between audio and images when watching videos, movies or music, although sometimes it happened that there was an alteration of 0.5 seconds, but it was enough to reconnect them to the smartphone to correct the shot

Through the app we can set the Gaming Mode, which should lower the latency during games. It doesn’t really seem to change much for me, but I’m still very happy with the normal mode, as I can play competitive games with almost no lag.

When it comes to calls, the PaMu Quiet Mini features three microphones, which are very good in places that aren’t particularly noisy, although the sound isn’t perfectly clear, but slightly muffled.

In the subway or with loud noises the quality drops and in these situations we manage to entertain calls, but with some more difficulty, while with less noise there are no problems.

Audio quality and noise cancellationWe start

from the second aspect, because on these PaMu Quiet Mini we have a double hybrid noise cancellation whose range goes up to 40 dB

I must say that the results are very good for its price range, although the loudest and most decisive noises are not filtered enough. There are 3 modes on board: ANC on, ANC off and transparency mode. From experience I can tell you that at maximum volume the transparency mode will sound like the one with ANC off, as external noises will not be amplified much. So I recommend setting the volume to 50% if you want to use it effectively.

Having said that, I personally find the maximum volume very high and the audio quality has fully convinced me, as we find a full-bodied sound, with a well-defined frequency presence and well accentuated bass. In fact, in some ways they are privileged even more than the medium and high frequencies, but not in an annoying way.

I’ve been using them a lot in training because they really bring out the hip-hop tracks I usually listen to and give me a boost. The same goes for gaming, especially in shooter games.

manage some functions of the headset we can interface directly with the PaMu Quiet app available for both Android and iOS. In it we can change the gestures to our liking, choose the listening mode between ANC on, ANC off and transparency, update the product, activate the Gaming Mode or the Original Sound.

In short, we do not find too many frills but it is simple and effective.

AutonomyWith regard

to the

battery inside the PaMu Quiet Mini, the company has not disclosed the capacity, but with volume at 100% and noise cancellation active I managed to get without problems to about 3 hours of continuous playback

However, turning off ANC and with medium volume we can reach 4/4.5 hours with ease. Add to this the fact that the 500 mAh case can give us up to 3 recharges, giving us a minimum of 9 hours and a maximum of 13.5 hours.

Charging can be done through the USB Type-C input or through a wireless cradle

Conclusions – PaMu Quiet MiniI want to

say right away that compared to its big brother these PaMu Quiet Mini have a better quality/price ratio and fewer defects despite the cost more than

the original.

low. Yes, we’ll probably lose an original case with premium materials, but at the end of the day in everyday use practicality is key.

In fact, the Quiet Mini are available on the official store of the brand at $ 79, or about 67 euros, but applying the discount code “SUMMER10” you can drop the price to $ 59.25, or about 50 euros

. We’re talking about a figure that’s more than in line with what these earbuds can offer and if I had to choose between the standard variant and the Minis, I’d go for the latter. ⭐️ Follow and support GizChina on Google News: click the star to bookmark us.
