The Oppo Watch 2 series has just been made official in China. If the technical characteristics of the connected watches are now known, the operating system that will animate them in Europe will have to be specified.

The information leaks that have been multiplying in recent days are now confirmed, as Oppo has very officially presented its new smartwatches in China. The Watch 2, which take over from the Watch launched in France in late 2020, are in line with them. They are therefore watches with a rectangular screen reminiscent of those of Apple and still come in two sizes: a 46 mm model with curved edges and a second 42 mm with a flat slab, as was the case on the Watch Series of 2020.

These watches rely on a renewed internal equipment since it is indeed the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip that is now at the helm, flanked by an Ambiq Apollo 4s coprocessor. It’s actually its presence that’s most intriguing, as the announcement of Wear OS 3, detailed this week by Google, is accompanied by a list of products eligible for the operating system. All of them are equipped with Qualcomm’s chip, which leaves us hoping for a launch of the Watch 2s under Wear OS 3… But as of now, we’ll have to be content with hoping, since the Chinese version of the watches is on the sidelines when it comes to the operating system.

VOOC charging in smartwatch style

For the rest, the Oppo Watch 2 retain an Amoled panel and promise improved battery life. They incorporate a technology called Ultra Dynamic Dual Engine, which, according to the brand, should allow the watches to ensure up to four days of use and 16 days in power saving mode. Let’s add that the VOOC fast charge, used on the manufacturer’s smartphones, is also part of the game to find the equivalent of one day of use in 10 minutes of charge. Finally, multiple features dedicated to sports and health are on the menu: continuous heart rate measurement, SpO2 measurement, GPS tracking and measurement of a hundred sports activities, or evaluation of stress and sleep.
