If some people still remember with a certain emotion the indestructible Nokia 3310 of their teenage years, HMD Global has just made official the launch of a new smartphone, which claims to be “the most resistant ever designed by Nokia“. A smartphone called Nokia XR20 that promises performance and durability.

A new smartphone ultra-resistant Nokia

Indeed, the new Nokia-signed smartphone is built around a 6.6″ (Full HD+) display and is powered by a Snapdragon 480 5G processor, all without Android 11. The Nokia XR20 comes with a dual ZEISS Optics camera of 48 MP + 13 MP, not to mention support for 15W Qi wireless charging and 18W fast charging. On the battery life side, Nokia promises up to two days of use, thanks to a 4630 mAh battery.

As for the “durability” side, it’s got a Gorilla Glass Victus screen, but also a design that makes it resistant to drops from 1.8m, an hour’s immersion under water, and temperatures ranging from -22 to +55 degrees. A military-grade smartphone (Mil-STD-810H), no less.

Like Aimé Jacquet urging Robert Pirès to beef up his game, the Nokia XR20 plays the “4-3-3-1” card. Obviously, we’re not talking about football tactics here, but rather 4 years of monthly security updates, 3 years of operating system upgrades, and a 3-year extended warranty. Also, should the screen unexpectedly break within a year of use, HMD Global promises to replace it for free.

The new Nokia XR20 will be available in stores from the end of August. It will come in Ultra Blue and Granite Grey and will be available in 4GB RAM/64GB and 6GB RAM/128GB configurations, starting at £499.
