With one to go, Motorola has just announced three new smartphones, or to be more precise, the three components of the Motorola Edge 20 family. They are the Edge 20, the Edge 20 Pro and the Edge 20 Lite. As you can already deduce from their names, and you can check below when reviewing their specifications, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is the top of the range of the group, the Edge 20 is in the middle position, and the Edge 20 Lite closes the list with the lowest performance of this trinity, although it is important to clarify that this does not mean that we are talking about a low-end terminal.

It is not the first time we talk about the Motorola Edge 20, we already did it in June, when there was an interesting leak that, yes, pointed to four models, instead of three. However, and although much of it has been confirmed, in this review we will only echo the official data, that is, those published by Motorola, waiting to confirm the rest when the list of technical specifications is expanded.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro

As I mentioned before, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is the largest of this new series. Inside we find a Snapdragon 870 SoC (Motorola already opted for this encapsulation for its Moto Edge S) composed of Kyro 585 CPU with eight cores (one Cortex-A77 at 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A77 at 2.4 GHZ and four Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz), Adreno 650 GPU and Snapdragon X55 5G Modem with WiFi 6 connectivity. It is accompanied by 12 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 Gb of UFS 3.1 storage with Turbo Write technology.

As far as its display is concerned, we will find a 6.7-inch OLED panel. The manufacturer has not yet revealed the resolution or the aspect ratio of the Motorola Edge 20 Pro screen, but it will offer a refresh rate of 144 hertz, which will have a color depth of 10 bits, DCI-P3 color space and support for HDR10+.

As for its cameras, the main one will have four elements, the main one with 108 megapixels, an optical zoom of up to five times with eight megapixels, a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle and a fourth for macro. The front one, whose resolution is not yet known, is located in a hole at the top center of the screen. This whole package is powered by a 4,500-milliamp battery with 30-watt TurboPower fast-charging feature.

Motorola Edge 20

At the midpoint of the new Motorola Edge 20 family, we find the smartphone that gives it its name. Inside we find a Snapdragon 778G SoC consisting of Kryo 670 CPU consisting of eight cores (one Cortex-A78 at 2.4 gigahertz, 3 Cortex-A78 at 2.2 gigahertz and four Cortex-A55 at 1.9 gigahertz), Adreno 642L GPU and X53 modem, which provides 5G connectivity, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. It is supported by 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage capacity.

With regard to its screen, and from the specifications provided by the manufacturer so far, it seems that the Motorola Edge 20 is similar to the Pro model, 6.7-inch OLED, 144 hertz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, DCI-P3 color space and support for HDR10+.

We find minimal variations both in terms of the main camera, because in this case the optical zoom has the same resolution, 8 megapixels, but its range is 3x, and with the battery, which in the Motorola Edge 20 is 4,000 milliamps.

Motorola Edge 20 Lite

Closes the group this model that, as we have already indicated above, is the most modest of the family. The Motorola Edge 20 Lite is built around a MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC with an eight-core CPU (two Cortex-A76 at 2 gigahertz and six Cortex-A55, also at two GHz), Mali-G57 GPU and modem that offers 5G connectivity, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. It comes accompanied by 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage capacity.

In its screen we find a slight variation with respect to that of the other two models, and is that its refresh rate is 90 hertz. If we look at its main camera, it maintains the 108-megapixel sensor, but in this case it is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra wide-angle, two-megapixel depth-of-field sensor and macro sensor. The Motorola Edge 20 Lite improves on its peers, however, in terms of battery, as this model has a capacity of 5,000 milliamps.

The three variants of the Motorola Edge 20 will hit the market in late August, and their recommended prices will be 699.99 euros for the Pro model, 499.99 euros for the Motorola Edge 20 and 349.99 euros for the lite version.
