As part of Gamescom 2021, Microsoft held a new meeting dedicated to gamers last night, called Xbox Stream. A presentation that allowed the American giant to unveil some of the upcoming games, including a certain Forza Horizon 5 of course, but also to make official the upcoming arrival of cloud gaming on the new generation of Xbox Series … but also on the generation Xbox One.
Cloud gaming on Xbox Series and Xbox One
Already available on smartphones and tablets for a few months, the Xbox cloud gaming offer is preparing its arrival on Xbox consoles. Subscribers to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service, and owners of a new generation console or an old Xbox One, will be able to enjoy this new way of playing, directly from their favorite console.
“To sum up, cloud gaming on your console will allow you to have fun faster! All you have to dois go to the Xbox Game Pass section and look for titles displaying the cloud icon,” explains Microsoft. The American giant will first conduct a test with Xbox Insider members this fall, before a general public launch later this year.
On the technical side, cloud gaming on Xbox consoles will be offered in 1080p and at 60 frames/second, as is currently the case on PCs, smartphones and tablets. Of course, Microsoft promises that new games will be progressively accessible via this cloud gaming offer, which should reach a large number of players by the end of 2021.
Note that cloud gaming is also an excellent opportunity to test a game almost immediately, without having to install it on his machine, and therefore saturate an SSD sometimes already in trouble. Of course, to enjoy the ultimate experience (and 4K in particular), you’ll have to download the entire game to the console.
