For the past few months we’ve been talking about the Radeon RX 6600 XT, a graphics card aimed at the mid-range market with which AMD will take on NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060, and today we can finally share with you its official specifications and retail price.

Those of you who read us daily will remember that, at the time, I said that the Radeon RX 6600 XT was going to be more powerful than the RTX 3060, but also a bit more expensive, and that it would be between $350 and $399. According to AMD, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is up to 15% more powerful than NVIDIA’s graphics solution, and will have a recommended retail price of $379. For comparison purposes, I remind you that the RTX 3060 has a recommended retail price of $329. Its price in Euros hasn’t been disclosed, but I imagine it will be in the $380 range, approximately.

Radeon RX 6600 XT

With the Radeon RX 6600 XT, AMD completes a catalog that is clearly divided by power and resolution. Thus, the Radeon RX 6900 XT, 6800 XT and 6800 are designed to play in 4K, and have 16 GB of graphics memory, while the Radeon RX 6700 XT is designed to play in 1440p resolution and has 12 GB of graphics memory. For its part, the RX 6600 XT, comes to fill the gap left in the mid-range, and is aimed at those who want to play with all the guarantees in 1080p.

Radeon RX 6600 XT Specifications

Radeon RX 6600 XT

In the end, the Radeon RX 6600 XT has adopted the same base specs that the Radeon Pro W6600 had, something perfectly understandable since both use the same graphics core, the Navi 23 XT. I won’t make you wait any longer, these are their final specs:

  • Navi 23 XT core.
  • RDNA 2 architecture.
  • 2,048 shaders at 2,359 MHz-.2589 MHz.
  • 32 units for acceleration.r ray tracing.
  • 128 texturing units.
  • 64 raster units.
  • FP32 power: 10.60 TFLOPs.
  • 128-bit bus.
  • 32 MB infinite cache.
  • 8 GB of GDDR6 at 16 GHz.
  • 160 watt TGP, uses an additional 8-pin power connector.

The cut in specs that the Radeon RX 6600 XT has over the Radeon RX 6700 XT is more than evident, although I think AMD has been able to tune the shot pretty well. Overall, there’s only one thing that worries me, and that’s the significant reduction of the infinite cache, which drops from the 96 MB that the Radeon RX 6700 XT had to 32 MB. At 1080p it’s clear that it won’t be a problem, but I wonder what will happen at 1440p.

Radeon RX 6600 XT

I know what you’re thinking, that the Radeon RX 6600 XT is a graphics card designed for 1080p gaming, and yes, that’s true, but we must not forget that we are talking about a graphics card that has a recommended price of $379, a figure that puts it very close to the RTX 3060 Ti, a perfect graphics card for 1440p that is also capable of moving games smoothly in 4K by adjusting the graphics quality.

I don’t want to get ahead of myself. Thanks to AMD Spain we’ll have the opportunity to test a unit of the Radeon RX 6600 XT, and then we’ll be able to evaluate it as it deserves. For now, from the performance data provided by AMD, which you can find in the attached graphics, it is clear that the Radeon RX 6600 XT is at a reasonable level, since, as we anticipated, it is more expensive than the RTX 3060, but it makes up for it with a higher performance.

As it could not be otherwise, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is compatible with all the latest generation technologies that AMD offers to its users, accelerates hardware ray tracing, has full support for DirectX 12 Ultimate and also for FSR technology, a spatial rescaling about which we have already told you on previous occasions.

If all goes according to plan, the Radeon RX 6600 XT will be available from August 11. The recommended price of $379 is, as usual, a reference for assemblers and vendors. This means that, depending on the model you want to buy, this figure will vary depending on the model you want to buy. This could vary considerably. On the other hand, I remind you that AMD has implemented a hardware configuration that is less attractive for cryptocurrency miners, but has not integrated any effective limitations.
