Spotted by Business Insidera job posting by the giant Amazon suggests the company’s interest in blockchain in general and cryptocurrencies in particular. The firm is not making much of a secret of it, explaining in the ad – whose authenticity it has confirmed – that it is looking for an “experienced product manager to develop Amazon’s Digital Currency, blockchain strategy and overall roadmap.”

You will leverage your expertise in blockchain, central bank digital currencies and cryptocurrencies to develop the technology plans that should be developed, drive the overall vision and product strategy to get executive buy-in and investment in this path,” the job posting reads. Amazon’s head of cryptocurrencies will therefore need to be able to make a strong case to his or her management to see the development of this project get funded.

So far, Amazon has not found a blockchain usage scenario that is particularly suited to its business. As for cryptocurrencies, Amazon has never accepted them as a means of payment.
